The International Relations Office continues in its process of promoting and generating experiences as an essential element for the development of disciplinary, multilingual and intercultural competencies of the members of its academic communities, based on the fulfillment of its mission through international cooperation agreements and academic exchanges.
Four students and two professors from the Universidad de La Guajira Riohacha campus were selected to participate in an academic mission to Brazil through the International Experts Program of the Colombian Institute of Educational Credit and Technical Studies Abroad (ICETEX).
The beneficiaries of this initiative belong to the masters in Social Sciences and Family and Family Intervention of the Alma Mater, who will now be able to strengthen their knowledge and immerse themselves in a new culture in order to apply the teachings in their local environments.
“The experiences allow us to break the bubble in which we are and permeate other latitudes, such as the one we are about to carry out with universities in Brazil in this case. We will have the opportunity to go from a desert area to the Amazon jungle and see, for example, how this part of the country has been transformed according to economic interests, mainly in the production of soybeans, corn, sugar cane, livestock and in that sense we can contrast territorial and socio-cultural dynamics”, said Professor Alexis Carabalí Angola, director of the Master's program in Social Sciences.

In this context, the thematic axes of this visit are framed in the inclusion and closing of gaps, multilingualism and peace building, conflict resolution and social justice, knowledge that can be strengthened at the Federal University of Rio Grande and the State University of Mato Grosso do Sul in Brazil.
Colombia Pazmiño Molina, a student of the Master's Degree in Social Sciences at the Alma Mater, said that expectations are high for the visit, leaving the name of the institution high, along with the exchange of knowledge and thus, add the information collected to the reports and records that the university currently has.
It should be noted that the representatives of the institution in the next academic trip will receive a full scholarship that will cover the transfer abroad and other expenses during the 12 days of their stay in the country, in addition to the permanent accompaniment of the ORI and the Postgraduate Department.
Finally, it is necessary to mention that the delegation, where for the first time graduate students have the opportunity to access the privileges of the call, is framed within the internationalization processes of the University of La Guajira.
